Individuals who lose a significant amount of weight may desire to have a thigh lift to complete their physical transformation. Dr. Butterfield offers patients from Glenwood Springs, Aspen, Basalt and surrounding areas this procedure to correct loose and sagging skin, and decrease excessive wrinkling on the thighs. Due to the success of bariatric surgeries, the number of thigh lift procedures has almost quadrupled since 2007. During surgery, excess fat and skin are removed from the thighs. The remaining skin is then lifted and pulled tight to create a smoother, more contoured appearance. Dr. Butterfield recommends that patients be at or near their goal weight prior to surgery.
"Nurse Lori Hubbell is the best, she made it easy, very comfortable, and she is very professional and knowledgeable. I went to Mount Sopris Plastic Surgery Center to have a fraxel lazer treatment done on my face, I am so happy with the results and will highly recommend them."- R.G. / Google / Feb 13, 2019

"Dr. Butterfield is an amazing human being and plastic surgeon! I was on vacation in Aspen and had an awful accident. I was referred to Valley View Hospital by the Aspen hospital because they didn’t have any plastic surgeon on call there. When I arrived at the hospital, the nursing staff and ER Dr were so kind and helpful. They called the plastic surgeon that was on call but she had the day off. So, she came in on her day off to help me out! She took me to her office and put my injuries back together. I’m truly grateful and thankful to Dr. Butterfield. She was very kind and made my very scary situation, comforting and calming! I would highly recommend Dr Butterfield for any reconstruction surgery. She did amazing things with my eye injury."- S.H. / Google / Nov 13, 2018
"Bea is absolutely THE BEST at facial peels I've seen her twice and couldn't be happier with the results! My skin looks amazing. She has such a gentle touch and is so informative about skin care. The Clear and Brilliant is also a total game changer! I've gotten so many compliments on how great my skin looks since seeing Bea, I've already scheduled another visit!"- M.H. / Google / Oct 06, 2018
"Everything about the staff and the experience with my surgery was the best it could be. ALL of the women are SO friendly and accommodating. Dr Butterfield is amazing at what she does and made my experience as painless and enjoyable as could be. I’m so grateful that I was referred to them considering my ‘un-fun’ circumstances of getting a chunk of my hand removed. I want to hug them all."- K.W. / Google / Apr 24, 2018
A thigh lift is performed to address the inner thighs and/or outer thighs (lateral thigh lift). During an inner thigh lift, an incision is made near the top of the thigh (along the crease where the torso meets the leg) and runs down the inner aspect of the thigh. Once the incision is made, a large section of tissue is removed from the top inner thigh area, and any excess skin will be excised away. Liposuction may be used to sculpt the area into a more desirable contour. The soft tissue structures and muscle are pulled tight and secured to result in a more toned and smooth skin surface.
A thigh lift can often be combined with another body contouring procedure, especially if it involves another area of the lower body. A common combination surgery for patients is a thigh lift and butt lift. Patients who require an outer thigh lift will generally need to have the buttocks addressed as well. During this approach, the outer thighs are pulled up and tightened, then secured with sutures along the crease at the bottom of the buttocks. In addition to a tighter appearance, most patients see a drastic improvement in skin irregularities, such as dimples from cellulite.
All thigh lift surgeries are performed under general anesthesia in an accredited surgical facility as an outpatient procedure. They typically take around 2-3 hours to complete. However, it could take longer if it is combined with another procedure. Recovery will vary, but typically takes 6-8 weeks. Scarring will be a part of this procedure. With proper scar care they should heal nicely and fade over time. Patients will see a marked improvement in the contour of their thighs, as well as a smoother, firmer skin tone.
The average cost for a thigh lift is between $5,500-$10,000. This price fluctuates depending on the extent of the surgery and whether another procedure was combined.

A thigh lift improves the appearance of the skin on the thighs. Because the skin is pulled and tightened, a smoother, more toned look will result. Some patients find that this alone makes the surgery worth it. While the surgery doesn’t remove every imperfection, the improvement can be very dramatic for many patients.
Some patients fear that they will not be able to perform certain exercises (such as a lunge) after a thigh lift. This is false. Patients will need to make certain they are fully healed and gain approval from their surgeon before performing lower body exercises. Once healed, exercise will only help optimize the surgical outcome.
The results of a thigh lift can be very long lasting. However, any additional weight gain could compromise some of the aesthetic results gained of the surgery. Over time, age and gravity will cause some of the natural laxity within the thighs to decrease, but most of the improvement will be permanent.
