What is IPL?
When you are bothered by how your skin appears because of dark spots or sun damage, our team at Mount Sopris Plastic Surgery Center can perform a skin consultation at our office in Glenwood Springs, CO to determine if you qualify for IPL (intense pulsed light) therapy. An IPL photofacial is a treatment that rejuvenates the skin for adult women and men with hyperpigmentation and vascular issues on their face and neck.
Dr. Jennifer Butterfield and her staff use intense wavelengths of light energy that raise the temperature of the skin to set off the natural regeneration process and boost collagen production. Over time, you should begin to see a healthier layer with a more even tone and less spots of pigmentation.

How Does IPL Work?
An IPL photofacial is performed inside our facility in Glenwood Springs, CO in around 30 – 60 minutes depending on the areas being treated. To start the treatment, the technician will wash and dry the skin to be treated before covering your eyes with goggles. The IPL photofacial is performed using a handheld wand that passes over the skin while emitting light energy pulses. While many patients will feel mild discomfort during the IPL, it's generally tolerable given the fast treatment time.
